Hello! My name is Margaret and I’m 15 years old. I have been a member of various theatre companies for about 10 years and recently had the incredible privilege of joining the Allegro family. I was lucky enough to play the role of Anna in Frozen Jr. and before that, an ensemble member in Mary Poppins with Allegro.
The moment I walked into auditions for Mary Poppins, I could tell there was something extra special about the Allegro community. The room was filled with the most welcoming group of kids & adults I had ever met. People I barely knew were happily chatting with me as we waited to be called in for auditions; making me immediately feel at home.
From the audition onwards, I knew I wanted to be part of Allegro. Rehearsals for Mary Poppins were a blend of hard work and fun, and I quickly formed strong bonds with my fellow cast members. The community spirit was infectious! On and off stage, Mary Poppins was hands down the most fun and professional experience I have ever had in theatre!
When I found out I got the role of Anna in Frozen Jr., I was over the moon and my new friends were just as excited for me as I was! We all celebrated each other's roles and the level of support shown to one another was far more than you would ever expect with a group of such young kids.
When I came to Allegro, I had little to no dance experience but now I feel confident and ready for any future dance opportunities. Both Ms. Shania & Ms. Kimberly, our choreographers, were incredibly supportive & had so much faith in my ability to grow and learn. They helped me improve every step of the way.
I have told my friends many times that I don’t cry on closing nights of musicals, like many people do. But the last time I stepped on stage to do the closing bows for Frozen Jr., I suddenly found myself unable to hold back the tears. I had learned so much and made friendships and memories I believe will last a lifetime. I was just so grateful to have had such a wonderful few months.
I would encourage anyone, of any age & skill level, who wants to step on stage to come join this fabulous family!
