Ballet technique is fundamental to all dance genres. It builds strength and discipline in dancers. Due to this, ballet classes will be a base requirement for many of our disciplines. For others, such as tap and hip hop, even though it is not required it is highly recommended.

How to read the schedule. Several of our lower level classes are offered multiple times a week to fit your schedule. Students only need to attend one class per week. Starting at Ballet 3, we recommend students dance 2-3 hours a week. Our priority is to build strong, healthy dancers. As students progress through levels of dance, building strength and flexibility is important.

Beginning at Ballet 3, classes are marked as "Technique Only" and "Performance and Technique" classes. The Performance and Technique class will perform at the end of year recital. Technique Only classes are designed to prepare students for higher levels of dance, focusing on technique and building a strong, healthy dancer. Both classes are appropriate for recreational and college prep students.

Looking ahead: If your student is interested in dancing on pointe, please begin planning their path. If you need advice or further information, please contact us to discuss your student and their plan. These requirements are in place for both recreation students and college prep.

By the 4th Grade (or Ballet 3) more classes will be offered allowing your student the opportunity to dance 2-3 hours a week. Rule of thumb is 3 hours/week, for 2 years before pointe work begins.

By High School, students should be dancing 4 days a week, 1-2 hours a day to maintain strength and flexibility. These hours include all genres, but will include ballet technique as well.
